How Much Is A GameCube Worth In 2021?

Whether you are trying to list your retro consoles to make some money, or if you are trying to get into the GameCube‘s fantastic library of games years later, you’ll need to know what a GameCube is selling for.

How much is a GameCube worth? A used GameCube, on average, sells for $69 on eBay, but the console ranges in price from $20 (for console only listings) to $200 (for complete-in-box systems) depending on the condition the unit is in. Used units are currently starting at $118 from third-party sellers on Amazon.

As you can see, used prices for the GameCube vary rather significantly depending on the condition of the console and whether or not the system comes in its original packaging. Also, used console prices can vary quite drastically from retailer to retailer, too.

Despite being a relatively younger retro console than say the Super Nintendo or the Sega Genesis, new GameCube systems are still pretty rare and, as a result, don’t really adhere to a “going rate.” Sellers are currently asking anywhere from $250-$400 and up on eBay.

What about limited editions and color variants?

Pokémon XD GameCube console

When it comes to color, there doesn’t seem to be much of a discrepancy in price between the different GameCube systems. The indigo, platinum, and jet black GameCube console all sell for roughly the same amount (on average) on eBay. On Amazon and GameStop however, there is a slight difference.

GameStop (Refurbished):

As far as limited edition hardware is concerned, the GameCube doesn’t have a lot to offer. While the console regularly came bundled with a game, the consoles themselves were usually the standard indigo, jet black, or platinum colors (at least in the United States). On exception, however, is the Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness Limited Edition GameCube. That being said, expect the limited edition unit to sell for about the same as a standard GameCube system.

Related Questions

Does GameStop buy GameCube consoles?

No, according to GameStop’s website, the retailer isn’t currently offering store credit or cash for a GameCube console.

Does GameStop carry GameCube consoles and games in-store?

Yes. However, they are offered in very limited locations. Again, visit their website to check your local store’s inventory. That being said, GameStop is looking to offer more retro products moving forward, so expect to see more GameCube consoles (and other older hardware) available at more and more physical stores.

Where else can I buy and sell GameCube games and consoles?

Local used game stores are typically great places to buy and sell used games, consoles, and accessories. That being said, they can be hard to come by – especially in rural areas. Flea markets and pawnshops are also good resources for buying and selling, while Goodwill stores and garage sales can be especially underrated when it comes to finding great deals.
